Whooping Cough Homeopathy Remedy
Definition:
A violent cough affecting infants upto about five years of age.
Causes:
An acute viral infection.
Symptoms:
Cold, accompanied by a severe cough, which becomes progressively worse and spasmodic, producing a "whooping" sound following the bout of coughing.
Treatment:
Aconitum napellus; Belladonna atropa; Castanea vesca; Cuprum metallicum; Corallium rub rum; Coccus cacti; Drosera rotundifolia; ipecacuanha; Mephitis; Naphthalinum; Pertussinum.
Aconitum napellus: Hoarse, dry, croupy cough; the child grasps the throat while coughing. Worse at night, especially after mid night.
Belladonna atropa: Cough with pain in the stomach before the attack; pain in the (left) hip. Moaning at every breath, worse in the afternoon.
Castanea vesca: Especially useful in the early stage; dry, ringing, violent, spasmodic cough, desire for warm drinks. Patient is very thirsty. Loss of appetite and diarrhea.
Coccus cacti: Cough with vomiting of clear, ropy mucus in long strings, even extending to the floor. Paroxysms usually in the mornings. Attacks end with vomiting or coughing of white mucus
Corallium rubrum: Very useful in severe cases. The child gasps and turns dark in the face. A short, quick, ringing cough; attacks follow each other so closely, that they run into each other.
Cuprum metallicum: In cases accompanied with spasms and clenched hands. Violent cough, suffocation is threatened. Cough brings up a tough, gelatinous mucus. Face and lips are very blue.
Drosera rotundifolia: Paroxysms follow each other in rapid succession, sometimes with bleeding from nose and mouth. Worse after midnight, lying down, drinking, singing and laughing.
Ipecacuanha: Face becomes ashen; nausea; tongue is very clean.
Mephitis: An effective remedy; the cough is so violent, it seems that each spell will terminate life. The child must be raised, is blue in the face, cannot exhale; food tends to go down the trachea. Worse at night. Desires to bathe in ice cold water.
Naphthalinum: Long and continued paroxysms of coughing cause difficult respiration. Associated with tenacious expectoration. Oppression of the chest.
Pertussinum: Spasmodic hacking, deep sounding, croupy cough with difficult breathing. This nosode acts both as a preventive and as a curative.
