Varicose Veins Homeopathy Remedy
Definition:
Enlarged and tortuous veins resulting from a failure in the centripetal flow of blood in the veins, usually of the legs. May also involve the anal area.
Causes:
Heredity, occupations with standing, thrombophlebitis. Often due to pregnancy. The weight of the developing fetus presses down impeding the venous return, causing stasis and back pressure.
Symptoms:
Irregular swellings and tortuosity of the veins affected, with aching in the area; sometimes an overlying eczema, with redness, itching and irritation. The whole limb is often heavy and sometimes swollen. Ulcers may occur.
Treatment:
Aconitum napellus; Carbo vegetabilis; Hamamelis virginica; Pulsatilla nigricans; Silicea.
Aconitum napellus: When due to fatigue and long periods of standing.
Carbo vegetabilis: When associated with poor circulation.
Hamamelis virginica: The tincture is applied locally, when acute pain is present (useful in hemorrhoids).
Pulsatilla nigricans: Used for complications during pregnancy or following child-birth.
Silicea: For uncomplicated cases, often associated with infection in some focus in the body. Extremities are cold and damp.
