Trigeminal Neuralgia Homeopathy Remedy

Definition:
Excruciating, paroxysmal and lancinating pain affecting the area supplied by one or more of the three divisions of the fifth cranial nerve or trigeminal nerve.

Causes:
Aetiology unknown and no histopathology of the nerve has been described.

Symptoms:
Agonizing pain; precipitated by touching "trigger zones", paroxysms of pains followed by a duli ache; a gust of wind on the face, washing the face, chewing or talking may bring on an attack; remissions become shorter and less frequent as the disease progresses.

Treatment:
racemosa; Belladonna atropa; Chamomilla; Coffea cruda; Kalmia latifolia; Magnesium phosphoricum; Spigelia anthelmia. (For trigeminal neuralgia and other forms of neuralgia.)

Actaea racemosa: Indicated for pain radiating into the eye (ciliary neuralgia) particularly in women, worse at menstrual period or climacteric.

Belladonna atropa: Useful in the younger patients.

Chamomilla: When unendurable pain associated with numbness occurs in a sensitive and irritable person, hot and clammy sweat on the forehead and scalp; worse with heat and at night; better when carried (in children).

Coffea cruda: Feeling "as if a nail is driven into the head"; persons with great sensitivity; worse with excessive emotions.

Kalmia latifolia: For descending pain.

Magnesium phosphoricum: One of the best pain remedies in facial or other neuralgias. Appropriate, when the neuralgic pain is relieved by warmth, especially in exhausted subjects; pains are sharp, cutting, piercing, stabbing, shooting and wandering. Intermittent paroxysms. (This remedy is called "the homoeopathic Aspirin").

Spigelia anthelmia: Indicated for left sided neuralgias of the head, face and eyes; the pains radiate outwards; worse with motion, noise, inspiration or rotating the eyes; especially worse in cold, damp and rainy weather.
