Tonsillitis Homeopathy Remedy

Definition:
Inflammation of the tonsils, adenoids and fauces.

Causes:
Throat or upper respiratory tract infection.

Symptoms:
Pain and swelling of the throat; burning sensation; fever; swallowing is painful, cervical glands enlarged and tender; earache.

Treatment:
Baryta carbonica; Belladonna atropa; Calcarea phospho-rica; Guajacum; Hepar sulphuris calcareum; Lachesis; Mercurius solubilis; Mercurius sulphuricus; Phytolocca decandra.

Baryta carbonica: In milder recurrent cases, often following exposure to cold or chill. The tonsils are very large and there is considerable cervical lymph gland enlargement, which is often tender. The right tonsil is often affected. The typical Baryta carbonica child is timid, shy and backward at school (delayed milestones).

Belladonna atropa: Usually right sided, very acute attacks with redness and swelling of the tonsillar area; with fever. The neck is often stiff and inflamed; pain is severe.

Calcarea phosphorica: In chronic cases of the Calcarea constitution. The tonsils are large, pale and inflamed. Hearing may be impaired.

Guajacum: Violent burning in the throat,. The throat feels hot; headache, chills and pains in the limbs. Acute tonsillitis. Worse by heat, cold weather, pressure and touch.

Hepar sulphuris calcareum: Purulent infection with splinter-like sensation in the throat, high temperature and shivering, with abscess, formation.

Lachesis: Useful when the left tonsil is affected, blue and swollen. The pain is worse on swallowing and when ingesting hot drinks.

Mercurius solubilis: Useful in severe purulent infection, often with ulcers, fetid breath, stinging throat pain and sweating with a high fever.

Alercurius sulphuricus: A severely infected'tonsil, with a painful and dry throat, often with a black pustular discharge which may lead to suppuration. The pain is usually made worse by swallowing or talking. Sensation of heat, constriction burning and scalding.

Phytolacca decandra: Tonsils large, bluish and dry with a burning sensation. Pain radiating to the ears when swallowing.
