Parkinsonism Homeopathy Remedy
Definition:
A disturbance of voluntary movements, characterized by tremors, muscular rigidity and decreased mobility (hypokinesia).
Causes:
Degeneration of the inhibitory and co-ordinating nerve
fibres in the region of the basai ganglia of the brain. Defective neurotransmitters (such as dopamine).
Symptoms:
Mental faculties are affected. Weaknes and spasticity of the facia! muscles causing a mask-like expression, coarse tremors when at rest (particularly in the hands), a tendency for the mouth to stay open, with excessive salivation, rigidity of the limbs, and a characteristic shuffling gait.
Treatment:
Belladonna atropa; Gelsemium sempewirens; Lachesis; Stramonium
Belladonna atropa: In low potencies may be useful in eariy cases.
Gelsemium sempervirens: Severe weakness of the muscles. ApathyvTremors well marked. Mask-like face.
Lachesis: Usually indicated for left sided symptoms. Worse on touch and after sleep.
Stramonium: Patient notices a sensation as if the limbs were separated from the body, an absence of pain and muscular mobility, especially of the muscles of expression and locomotion; a staggering gait; takes several small steps to turn around.
