Pancreatitis Homeopathy Remedy
Definition:
An inflammation of the pancreas, which occurs in either acute, sub-acute or chronic forms, usually associated with a diseased gall-bladder.
Causes:
The acute form is very painful, often due to an ob-
struction of the pancreatic duct at the entrance of the duodenum. This is caused by gall-stones, oedema, inflammation or spasm. Sub-acute pancreatitis is less painful. It usually occurs as a complication in viral infections such as mumps, influenza or infective hepatitis with fever and pain in the upper abdomen. The chronic type may follow either of the above or may be due to an inflammation of the bile duct or to a peptic ulcer. There may be a history of chronic alcoholism.
Symptoms:
A sudden onset of acute pain in the upper abdomen accompanied by nausea and vomiting. This can render the patient unconscious. The pain often radiates to the back, shoulders or the iliac fossae. As the destructive process continues, digestive enzymes leak into the abdominal cavity causing chemical peritonitis. Since these symptoms resemble those of a peptic ulcer, acute intestinal obstruction, acute appendicitis, acute cholecystitis or even myocardial infarction, diagnosis must be made early.
Treatment:
Iris versicolor; Nux vomica.
Iris versicolor: Burning sensation of the whole abdomen, especially at the anus; vomiting of sour, bloody, biliary mucus which hangs in strings down the receptacle. Nausea with a poor appetite. Periodic diarrhea with pain; otherwise obstinate constipation.
Nux vomica: Severe vomiting and prostration.
