Osteoarthritis Homeopathy Remedy

Definition:
Non-inflammatory degenerative changes in the joints, usually of the larger weight bearing joints, in older persons.

Causes:
Degenerative or following a trauma or accident.

Symptoms:
Pain, effusion, incapacity and stiffness.

Treatment:
Arnica montana; Bryonia alba; Calcarea carbonica; Colchi-cum autumnale; Rhus toxicodendron.

Arnica montana: Arthritis following an injury.

Bryonia alba: The basic remedy for osteoarthritis or other painful joint disorders that are worse with movement or jarring, but better with rest and cool applications. Like Pulsatilla nigricans, patients are intolerant of heat. Worse with slight touch. Better with firm pressure.

Calcarea carbonica: Useful in arthritis of the hands or feet (small joints).

Colchicum autumnale: Big toe affected. Shifting pains; from one joint to another; accompanied by abdominal fullness and a sense of weakness.

Rhus toxicodendron: The characteristic features contrast with Bryonia. The disorder is better with heat, either local or general, and worse when sitting and resting. Prolonged or continuous movement gives relief. There is often stiffness and aggravation on rising.
