Nephritis Homeopathy Remedy
Definition:
An inflammation of the kidneys associated with or following a bacterial infection. When the infection reaches the kidneys from the bladder via the ureter, the pelvis of the kidney becomes inflamed; this is called pyelitis. If the infection spreads to the kidney tissue, the disorder is termed pyelonephritis.
Causes:
The acute forms are usually associated with hemolytic streptococci and often follow a sore throat (it is not the infection from the streptococci that causes the disorder, but rather that the antibodies formed to destroy the streptococci cause an allergic reaction that damages the kidneys).
Symptoms:
After recovering from the sore throat, the patient experiences a headache, backache, swelling of the face, the legs and hematuria. There may be nausea, vomiting and a skin rash. There will be albumin in the urine and the blood pressure usually rises.
Treatment:
Berberis vulgaris; Cantharis vesicatoria; Kalium chloricum; Methylene blue; Mercurius corrosivus.
Berberis vulgaris: Stitching pains from the kidneys to the liver, spleen, stomach and groin. Constant urge to defecate. Burning at the anus. Mucus and a bright red, muddy sediment in the urine. Pain in the thighs and loins on urinating.
Cantharis vesicatoria: Aversion to food and drink. Violent burning in the stomach; vomitus is blood-streaked and membranous. Mucus stools, like scrapings of the intestines. Tenesmus and shuddering after each stool. Intolerable urge to urinate. Scalding urine voided drop by drop.
Kalium chloricum: Feeling of weight (heaviness) in the epigastric and umbilical regions. Flatulence. Vomiting of dark-greenish matter. Diarrhea with profuse, greenish mucus. Albumin loaded, scanty urine.
Methylene blue: Urine acquires a green colour; pus in the urine (bladder irritation caused by this remedy may be antidoted by consuming some nutmeg).
Mercurius corrosivus: Incessant vomiting of green, bilious matter. Bruised and bloated sensation. Dysentery. Tenesmus relieved by stools. Hot, bloody, slimy and offensive stool with writhing pains and shreds of mucous membranes.
