Intestinal Obstruction Homeopathy Remedy
Definition:
A complete or partial blockage of the intestines. An acute inflammation or infection of the intestinal tract. Neoplasms may also cause colic by obstructing the bowel.
Causes:
Infected food, salmonella or other organisms, arising from a failure to adequately cook infected, unsuitable or frozen food; poor culinary hygiene such as not covering or not adequately refrigerating the food.
Symptoms:
Colicky abdominal pain. Severe diarrhea and vomiting, collapse, weakness, sweating.
Treatment:
Arsenicum album; Bryonia alba; Carbo vegetabilis; Cinchona (China) officinalis; Colocynthis; Magnesium phosphoricum; Nux vomica; Phosphoricum acidum; Plumbum metallicum; Podophyllum peltqtum; Pulsatilla nigricans.
Arsenicum album: Cold, chills, great weakness and prostration, sometimes blood-stained stools.
Bryonia alba: Nausea and vomiting, with colic and diarrhea. The patient lies immobile and pale. Worse with any pressure or movement.
Carbo vegetabilis: Nausea and vomiting with constipation, cramping and upper abdominal pains. Worse at night and after meals. Flatulence and distension are prominent features. Collapse.
Cinchona (China) officinalis: Weakness always accompanies colic; vomiting and painless diarrhea, often at night. Worse or provoked by eating unripe fruits.
Colocynthis: Enteritis with colic, worse in the morning. Better when bending forward and with pressure.
Magnesium phosphoricum: Severe colic, better by rubbing, warmth and pressure.
Nux vomica: When due to indigestible foods and irritation. Colic from uncovering, worse after food.
Phosphoricum acidum: For epidemic (summer) diarrhea. Traveller's diarrhea.
Plumbum metallicum: Colic, radiating to all parts of the body. Abdominal wall feels drawn backwards by a string to the spine. Abdomen is retracted.
Podophyllum peltatum: For severe watery diarrhea.
Pulsatilla nigricans: Thirstlessness due to intake of excessive carbohydrate (starchy) foods; the symptoms are variable.
