Headache Homeopathy Remedy
Definition:
Pain and discomfort in the head and upper cervical region. Mygraine is generally a periodical and one sided headache accompanied with photophobia, nausea and vomiting in several cases
Causes:
Usually the cause is unknown. Multiple and varied, commonly just before a cold or infection; or the prodromal stage of fever in acute ear and throat infections. Tension, anxiety, fear, allergy to cheese or chocolate, familial, trauma and constipation are some of the causes
Symptoms:
Dull or throbbing ache, dizziness, nausea, loss of appetite and irritability. Headache, often settles behind or around one eye. Nausea and photophobia are worse after stress and fatigue.
Treatment:
Aconitum napellus; Argentum nitricum; Arnica montana; Belladonna atropa; Bryonia alba; Cocculus indicus; Gelsemium sempervirens; Glonoinum; Ignatia amara; Iris versicolor; Kalium bichromicum; Lycopodium clavatum; Natrium muriaticum; Nux vomica; Pulsatilla nigricans; San-guinaria canadensis; Silicea; Spigelia anthelmia; Thuja occidentaiis.
Aconitum napellus: Head feels congested, hemicrania, throbbing of temples or eyes, violent, sudden headache, band-like; restless, anxious; thirsty. Better with rest. Worse with noise and movement.
Argentum nitricum: Sensation as if the head is enormously expanded and accompanied by vertigo. Pain better on tight bandaging and with deep manual pressure.
Arnica montana: Bruised-like headache across the forehead, worse with any movement.
Belladonna atropa: Burning-throbbing headache, worse on exposure to light and noise; face is red, worse on lying down, jarring, stooping, coughing or straining at stool. Eyes appear to be "too large" with congestion of blood in the conjunctivae.
Bryonia alba: Splitting frontal headache, extending backwards and down the neck and trunk. It is worse in the mornings and is aggravated by any motion. Even a slight movement of the eyeballs aggravates the pain.
Cocculus indicus: Headache with much retching and little vomiting.
Gelsemium sempervirens: Giddiness and nausea associated with right sided headaches, often over the right eye or the right temple. The pain is worse with movement, noise and light.
Glonoinum: Due to exposure to the sun; throbbing headache, in- creased urination,exquisite bursting and throbbing pains. Worse with sun, heat and jarring. Better in cool air and sleeping with head elevated. Worse on lying down.
Ignatia amara: Headache as if a nail is driven into the skull. There is a band-like pressure with the headache across the forehead radiating to the sides, worse when stooping. Headache caused by emotions with associated dizziness, nausea, often associated with the exteriorisation. of emotions by weeping.
Iris versicolor: Periodic headaches with intense throbbing and supraorbital pain. Headache begins with a blur before the eyes. At the height of the headache vomiting occurs. It is especially indicated for headaches of teachers, writers and students, who carry out abstract mental work.
Kalium bichromicum: As the headache starts the sight is lost, but it returns as the headache increases. Bones and scalp feekverjy sore and tender. Areas of pain are in small spbts that can be covered by the tip of the finger or a small coin.
Lycopodium clavatum: Headache usually settles over the right eye. Nausea and dizziness are common. Pain is often worse in the afternoons (4 p.m. till about 8 p.m.) and aggravated by mental concentration.
Natrium muriaticum: There is a throbbing, burning headache, often felt on the top of the head, worse in the mornings, especially at 10 a.m. (or sunrise to sunset) aggravated by movement and from warmth.
Nux vomica: Headache due to gastric disorders. Headaches due to high living; with use of excess the alcohol and cigarettes, often associated with constipation. Workaholic.
Pulsatilla nigricans: Right sided headache; the symptoms are very variable and wandering and always worse with heat. Headache extending to face and teeth, with lachrymation.
Sanguinaria canadensis: Right sided headache, pain begins in the occiput, spreads upwards and forwards and settles over the eyes, especially the right eye.
Silicea: Right sided headache; the migraine-like headache begins at the back of the head and settles over the right eye.
Spigelia anthelmia: Left sided headache, usually associated with weakness, fainting and palpitations. Spigelia has the same relation to the left side of the head that Silicea does to the right side. The pain settles over the left eye. The pain begins in the morning, increases till about noon and subsides at sunset.
Thuja occidentalis: Left sided headache as if the head is pierced by a nail, often worse after vaccination or an injection. The skin is oily and warts are common.
