Epilepsy Homeopathy Remedy

Definition:
This group of disorders is characterised by a brief derangement of cerebral function with fits or seizures, which are often sudden, often resulting in a ioss of consciousness.

Causes:
Not known, but excessive bioelectric discharges of cerebral neurones are recorded by the electro-encephalogram at the time of the fit.

Symptoms:

  1. Petit mat: Fleeting loss of consciousness (usually in a child).
  2. Grand mal: Characterised by an aura, loss of consciousness, generalised convulsions (sometimes preceded by a sharp scream).
  3. Jacksonian fit: Fits begin in one region of the body and spread to other muscle groups.
  4. Traumatic epilepsy: Follows trauma
  5. Sensory epi/epsy: Narcolepsy

Epilepsy Homeopathic Treatment:
Belladonna atropa; Cicuta virosa; Cuprum metallicum; Hyos-cyamus nigra; Lachesis; Silicea; Zincum metallicum.

Belladonna atropa: Epileptic spasms followed be severe nausea and vomiting.

Cicuta virosa: Spasms with rigidity, staring eyes, blue face and frothing at the mouth, difficulty of breathing and loss of consciousness. These spasms may be followed by profound exhaustion for many days

Cuprum metallicum: Useful when the aura begins in lower limbs and ascends to hypogastrium and is then followed by unconsciousness, foaming at mouth and falling down.

Hyosc/amus niger: Epileptic spasms accompanied by jerking, twitching and frothing at the mouth. Patient bites the tongue and behaves in a wild and disorderly manner.

Lachesis: Nocturnal epilepsy, narcolepsy, during sleep or worse after sleep.

Silicea: Epilepsy commences at night (often at the new moon) from mental overstrain and emotions. Sensor)' epilepsy.

Zincum metallicum: Useful in chronic epileptic patients. Symptoms like trembling, convulsive twitching, fidgety feet and blurring of half of the visual field may be present.
