Dysphagia Homeopathy Remedy
Definition:
Difficulty of swallowing.
Causes:
Diseases of the oesophagus, mouth and pharynx. Also due to tumors in the elderly. Hysteria and psychosomatic causes.
Symptoms:
Soreness of the mucous membranes.
Treatment:
Belladonna atropa; Cajuputum; Ignatia amara; Lachesis ; Mercurius vivus.
Belladonna atropa: Dry, red throat as if glazed; worse on the right side. Tonsils enlarged. Throat feels constricted with the sense of a lump. Throat spasms, scraping motions, worse with liquids. Hypertrophy of the mucous membranes.
Cajuputum: Persistant sense of choking. Spasmodic stricture of the oesophagus. Tongue feels swollen as if it fills the whole mouth.
Ignatia amara: Personal disappointments.
Lachesis: Sore throat, worse on the left side (fauces). Pain aggravated by hot drinks. Mucus sticks, cannot be moved up or down. Worse with the slightest touch or if swallowing saliva or liquids. Pain radiates to the ear. Collar and tie must be worn loose.
Mercurius vivus: Bluish-red swelling and a constant desire to swallow, worse on the right side. Ulcers appearing with changes in the weather. Sore, raw, burning throat, fluids return through the nose.
