Definition:
Pain, irritability and discomfort occurring in the young child with the eruption of the first teeth (milk dentition).
Causes:
The natural process of dentition.
Symptoms:
Swollen and tender gums, increased salivation, fever, irritation, crying, restlessness and interrupted sleep.
Treatment:
Aconitum napellus; Belladonna atropa; Calcarea acetica; Chamomilla; Colocynthis ; Nux vomica; Podophyllum peltatum.
Aconitum napellus: Feverish and acute pain.
Belladonna atropa: Irritability; flushed cheeks; convulsions
Calcarea acetica: Teething delayed; slimy mucus in stools, diarrhea.
Chamomilla: Child is irritable; one cheek is pale the other flushed; diarrhea.
Colocynthis: Colic is present.
Nux vomica: Constipation is present.
Podophyllum peltatum: Diarrhea and a desire to press or rub on the gums.
