Cramps Homeopathy Remedy

Definition:
Cramps are painful, spasmodic, muscular contraction or a tonic spasm, often seen in the legs (calf muscles), usually at night.

Causes:
Often unknown. Circulatory or salt depletion from excessive sweating or following medications (diuretics) or diarrhea.

Treatment:
Aceticum addum; Chamomilla; Cuprum arsenicosum; Cuprum metallicum; Gelsemium sempervirens; Iris versicolor, Nux vomica; Veratrum album.

Aceticum addum: Stomach pains and abdominal cramps, especially in pale, anemic persons with severe debility.

Chamomilla: Pain located in the thighs and legs. Useful when Cuprum arsenicosum fails (see below).

Cuprum arsenicosum: One of the most useful remedies. A first remedy for cramps in the groin, abdomen or legs.

Cuprum metallicum: Usually cramps and pain in feet and legs.

Gelsemium sempervirens: Burning pains of the arms and lefs. Writer's cramp. Irritability is nearly always a feature. Usually better with movement of the affected part.

Iris versicolor: When associated with diarrhea.

Nux vomica: When associated with headache, loss of appetite, nausea and constipation. Usually worse between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. Irritability, constipation, indigestion and headache are associated.

Veratrum album: Particularly for cramps of the calf muscles, better with local massage, often worse by walking about.
