Constipation Homeopathy Remedy

Definition:
Irregular and erratic bowel actions, with a failure to establish a normal (daily) rhythm of evacuation.

Causes:
Faulty bowel training, diet, lack of exercise, convalescence, change of environment, travel, fever, illness, megacolon. Lack of suitable toilets.

Symptoms:
Physical or mental discomfort. Abdominal distension. Many cases have no symptoms.

Treatment:
Alumina; Anacardium orientale; Bryonia alba; Collinsonia canadensis; Hamamelis virginica; Natrium muriaticum; Nux vomica; Opium; Plumbum metallicum; Silicea.

Alumina: Dryness of the stool with a complete lack of intestinal activity.

Anacardium orientale: Patient feels a plug in the anus.

Bryonia alba: Hard, dry stools (black balls), passed with great difficulty.

Collinsonia canadensis: For obstinate cases. Hard stools passed with considerable straining. Often associated with weakness and faintness. Rheumatism and hemorrhoids are often present.

Hamamelis virginica: When accompanied by bleeding hemorrhoids.

Natrium muriaticum: Crumbly, hard stools, difficult to expel and often associated with bleeding and ineffectual urging.

Nux vomica : Useful with a long.history of loss of bowel habits, due to laxatives and purgatives; inattention to regular bowel habits and a lack of exercise. Chronic ineffective and irregular urging, which is incomplete and unsatisfactory. An "unfinished feeling" after stools. Soft stools.

Opium: Complete inaction of the intestines with no urging, so that the feces become impacted, hard, dry and black; often need manual removal. Common in the elderly.

Plumbum metallicum: Colic and urging to stool, passing accomplished with difficulty. Hard, black, round, dry balls passed with colicky pains.

Silicea: Stools voided with difficulty; when partly expelled, recede again.
