Confusional States Homeopathy Remedy

Definition:
A state of cerebral confusion in the elderly (pre-senile dementia). Alzheimer's disease is a progressive degenerative disease of the cerebral cortex.

Causes:
Senile, degenerative, infective, confusion occurs when there is a high temperature, toxic or organic disease of the brain, a raised blood pressure or trauma may predispose or aggravate.

Symptoms:
Mental confusion. Amnesia. Behavioural disorders.

Treatment:
Baryta carbonica; Belladonna atropa; Cannabis indica; Opium; Stramonium.

Baryta carbonica: For the slowly progressive senile confusional states.

Belladonna atropa: Useful when the delusional state is associated with infection and a flushed face with a high temperature and a bounding pulse. Patients are usually extremely restless.

Cannabis indica: When there is a flight of ideas, delusions and confusional states.

Opium: Useful in mild states of confusion, often with a flushed face, headache, drowsiness and impending cerebral catastrophy.

Stramonium: Indicated if there is violence associated with confusion, restlessness, running about and inability to be at rest.
