Chorea, Spastic Paralysis, Habit Spasms Homeopathy Remedy

Definition:
This group of disorders is characterised by ceasless but uncontrolled and purposeless movements with muscular spasms. These movements appear to be well co-ordinated but are performed involuntarily.

Causes:
Damage to specific brain areas and centers. Mental stresses are u precipitating factor. Chorea occurs occasionally during pregnancy in young women (chorea gravidarum).

Symptoms:
Rheumatic chorea (called Sydenham's chorea or St. Vitus dance) is a childhood disorder associated with rheumatic fever. Adult chorea has usually of hereditary origin (Huntington's chorea). Spastic paralysis is often confined to the legs. Spasmodic torticollis is a painful muscle spasm, where the neck is deviated to one side.

Treatment:
Agaricus muscarius; Argentum nitricum; Causticum; Cuprum metallicum; Gelsemium sempervirens; Hyoscyamus niger; Magnesium phosphoricum; Mygale lasiodora; Stramonium; Tanacetum vulgare; Tarentula hispanica; Zincum metallicum.

Agaricus muscarius: Jerking, twitching and trembling. Indicated especially when twitching completely ceases during sleep. Sensation as if pierced by needles of ice; symptoms appearing diagonally as from right arm to left leg. Worse with cold.

Argentum nitricum: Useful with symptoms of inco-ordination, loss of control and want of balance physically and mentally, trembling of the affected parts, sensation as if a region of the body, especially the head, is expanding; a great desire (craving) for sweets.

Causticum: Right side affected; words are garbled on attempting to speak.

Cuprum metallicum: Chorea brought on by fright, spasmodic affections, cramping convulsions, beginning in the fingers and toes with violent contractions and intermittent pain; complaints begin on the left side,

Gelsemium sempervirens: Helps to reverse the course of Huntington's chorea.

Hyoscyamus niger: Indicated when tremulous weakness and twitching of tendons are associated with delirium. For persons of a quarrelsome nature and obscene character.

Mygale lasiodora: Twitching of the facial muscles; mouth and eyes open in rapid succession, constant motion of the whole body.

Magnesium phosphoricum: Spasmodic twitching of eyelids or facial muscles, writers cramp, piano player's cramps and other occupational cramps.

Stramonium: Convulsions of upper extremities with graceful and rhythmic motions and a staggering gait.

Tanacetum vulgare: ndicated when spasms are associated with "half dead, half alive feeling".

Tarantula hispanica: Useful when the choreic movements occur in an extremely restless person.

Zincum metallicum: Caused by fright or suppressed eruptions (as by the use of steroids). Severe mental depression.
