Biliary Colic Homeopathy Remedy

Definition:
Intermittent and severe spasms of colicky pain as a result of the obstruction and/or inflammation of the gall-bladder or its duct. The pain is generally felt in the upper abdomen with maximum tenderness in the right costal margin. It may radiate to the right shoulder and back of the trunk.

Causes:
Gall-stones, inflammation and mucocele.

Symptoms:
Pain, sweating, collapse, doubling-' ip, fever, nausea and vomiting.

Treatment:
Berber's vulgaris(tincture); Chelidonium majus; Dioscorea villosa; Lachesis; Magnesium carbonicum; Natrium sulphuricum; Veratrum album.

Berberis vulgaris (tincture): Allievates the spasms in most cases when repeated every five to ten minutes.

Chelidonium majus: Useful in gall-bladder disorders. Pains in the right shoulder region are characteristic. Dioscorea villosa: Severe umbilical pain, relieved by extending the trunk backwards. Pains often radiate to chest and back of trunk.

Lachesis: The liver region (right hypochondrium) is sensitive and the patient cannot bear anything around the waist. Especially suitable for chronic alcoholics. Abdomen is tympanitic and painful.

Magnesium carbonicum: Excellent for griping pain which doubles-up the patient.

Natrium sulphuricum: Vomiting of bile. The liver is tender on palpation with sharp, stitching pains. Worse when lying on the left side. Colic in the area of the ascending colon, worse before breakfast. Loose morning stools. Worse after wet weather.

Veratrum album: Pains that make the patient double-up, or require a brisk walk to obtain relief. There is a cold sweat, considerable flatulence and abdominal distension due to constipation
