Clinical Picture:
Pains; stitching, darting, worse during rest and lying on affected side (stitching, darting, better during rest and lying on painful side Bryonia alba).
Cannot bear to be touched; worse when touched even lightly, especially on the feet.
Great aversion to being alone (Arsenicum album, Bismuthum oxydatum, Lycopodium clavatum. Desires to be alone: Ignatia amara, Nux vomica).
Bag-like swellings between the upper eyelids and eyebrows.
Backache with profuse sweating, weakness; after abortion, labour, men-orrhagia; with eating; while walking feels as if she must give up and lie down.
Cough; dry, paroxysmal, loosens viscid mucus or pus which must be swallowed; spasmodic with gagging or vomiting of food; hard, white or smoky masses fly from throat when coughing (Badiaga, Chelidonium majus).
Feels ill the week before menstruation; backache, before and during menses.

Modalities:
Worse:

Touch.
After coitus.
In cold weather.
From soup and coffee.
In the mornings about three o'clock.
Lying on the painful side.
Week before menstruation.
Better:
In warm weather.
Though moist.
During day.
While moving about.

Relations:
Complementary to Carbo vegetabilis. Similar to Bryonia alba and Lyco-podium clavatum.
Natrium muriaticum, Nitricum acidum or when Stannum metallicum, though apparently indicated, fail.

Summary of Indications:
Pain syndromes - low backache - menstrual disorders - bronchitis.
