Clinical Picture:
Ignatia amara is the remedy for grief in a person, who does not recover adequately from an emotional upset, such as disappointment or anger; patient sighs very frequently.
Emotional strain. Mental stress. After-effects of grief. Hysteria, oversensitive to pain, worry, shock and disappointment (especially of love)1. Sad, sighing, moody, changeable and a desire to be alone.
Hiccough and hysterical vomiting.
Insomnia.
Headache as if nail is driven at the side; often follows anger or grief; worse from stooping.
Intolerance of tobacco.
A remedy of great contradictions; tinnitus decreased by music, hemorrhoids decreased when walking, sore throat is better when swallowing, empty feeling of the stomach not decreased by eating and aggravated by coughing.

Morning - Coffee.
Emotions - Cognac.
Grief - Smoking.
Tobacco smoke - Light touch.
Better:
Lying on the painful side.
Warmth.
Walking.
Hard pressure
Swallowing.

Relations:
Incompatible with Nux vomica, Coffea cruda and Tabacum. Natrium muriaticum is complementary.

Summary of Indications:
Emotional problems (mostly of women) - chorea - headache.
