Clinical Picture:Whooping cough with violent paroxysms following each other rapidly; patient is scarcely able to get a breath, wakes about 6 to 7 a.m. and does not cease coughing until a large quantity of tenacious mucus is expectorated (Coccus cacti).
Profuse epistaxis during every paroxysm (Indigo); little sticky sputum during the day, whooping at night (Corallium rubrum).
Deep, hoarse, barking cough (Verbascum thapsus), worse after midnight, during or after measles; spasmodic, with gagging, retching and vomiting (Bryonia alba, Kaiium carbonicum).
Constant, titillating cough in children, begins as head touches, the pillow at night (Belladonna atropa, Hyoscyamus niger, Rumex crispus).
Nocturnal cough of young persons in phthisis, bloody or purulent sputum. "Clergyman's sore throat'" with rough, scraping, dry sensation deep in the fauces; voice is hoarse, deep, toneless, cracked and requires exertion to speak (Arum macuiatum). Constriction and crawling sensation in larynx; hoarseness with yellow or green sputum.

On getting warm in bed.
Drinking.
Singing.
Laughing.
Pressure with the hands.
Relations:
Complementary to Nux vomica.
Follows well after Sambucus nigra, Sulphur, Veratrum album.
Is followed well by Calcarea acetica, Pulsatilla nigricans, Sulphur.
Similar to Cina, Coraliium rubrum, Cuprum metallicum, Ipecacuanha, Sambucus nigra in spasmodic coughs.
Often relieves the constant, distressing night cough of tuberculosis.
