Clinical Picture:
Adapted to rheumatic, gouty diathesis in persons of vigorous constitution and in diseases of old people.
Nausea and faintness from the odor of cooking food, especially of fish, eggs or fatty meat (Arsenicum album, Sepia).
III-effects from night watching (Cocculus indicus, Nux vomica).
Abdomen is distended with gas, feels as if it would burst. Burning or icy coldness in the stomach and abdomen.
Affected parts very sensitive to contact and motion.
Arthritic pains in joints, patient screams with pain on touching a joint or stubbing a toe.
Nephritis; oedema and ascites.

Modalities:
Worse:

Mental exhaustion or emotions.
Effects of concentrated studying.
Odor of cooking food.
Touch and at night.
Better:
Stooping.
Warmth.
Silence.
Lying perfectly still.

Relations:
Similar to Bryonia alba in rheumatism and gout with serous effusions; in rheumatism in warm weather.
Often cures in nephritis after Apis mellifica and Arsenicum album fail.
