Clinical Picture:
Unusual activity of mind and body. Full of ideas, quick to act and, therefore, disturbed sleep on account of this.
The ill effects of sudden emotions or pleasurable surprises.
Sleepless, wide awake patient, impossible to close the eyes. Physical excitement caused by mental excitation or overwork.
Headache due to mental over-exertion, constantly thinking or talking.
Headache one sided, as from a nail driven into the brain (Ignatia amara, Mux vomica), and feels as if the brain is "lacerated or dashed to pieces."

Modalities:
Worse:

Sudden mental emotion.
Excessive joy.
Cool environment.
Open air.
At night.
Narcotic medications.
Better:
Warmth.
Lying down.
Holding ice in the mouth.

Relations:
Incompatible with Camphora officinalis, Cantharis, Causticum, Cocculus indicus or Ignatia amara. Complementary to Aconitum napellus.

Summary of Indications:
Insomnia - anxiety - headaches.
