Clinical Picture:
Used in traumatic affections. This remedy is useful to secure healing of wounds by first intention and to prevent suppuration.
Lacerated wounds, loss of blood from wounds causing exhaustion and ulceration of skin.
Calendula is almost specific to prevent suppuration of clean, surgical cuts or lacerated wounds. The lotion can be applied to open wounds.
Loss of blood and severe pain.

Modalities:

In damp, cloudy weather.

Relations:
Similar to Hypericum perforatum in injuries to parts rich in sensory nerves, where pain is excessive and out of all proportion to the injury. Similar to Arnica montana in trauma without laceration of the soft tissues. Hepar sulphuris calcareum is complementary.

Summary of Indications:
Painful traumatic injury - surgical wounds - loss of blood and severe pain. Acts well in potency as well as in tincture or lotion applied locally5. Both may be administered at the same time.
