White bryony, Wild hops

Clinical Picture:
Bryonia is called the "grumpy bear" remedy, because the person who needs this remedy is irritable and wishes to be left all alone. Whatever the disorder - fever, headache, sore throat or gastritis the patient feels worse with the slightest movement and is very thirsty.
Disorders with fever. Pale complexion.
Dry, violent, spasmodic cough with stitching pain in the chest; cough is worse at night, after eating and drinking, taking a deep breath and when entering a warm room.
Headaches; head feels as if it may burst. Pain sharp with the slightest cough. Wants to be quiet and left alone. Irritable. Wants things, which are refused when offered (a characteristic in children).
Thirsty, but drinking makes headache worse. Thirst for large quantities of cold drinks at long intervals.
Constipated; stools large, dark, dry and very hard, as if burnt (Opium).
Colic, vomiting after rich or fatty foods. Dryness from mouth to anus.
Rheumatism with red, swollen, hot and shiny joints. Rest, touch and pressure relieve the pain.
Stitching pains, better with firm pressure, worse on motion. Symptoms progress slowly, usually worse on the right side.

Modalities:
Worse:

Motion.
Exertion.
Light touch. Eating warm food.
warmth.
Better:
Rest.
Cold foods.
Firm pressure.
Lying on painful side (this prevents motion).
Cold.

Relations:
Alumina, Kalium carbonicum, Phosphorus, Rhus toxicodendron and Sulphur are complementary.

Summary of Indications:
Gout - rheumatism - degenerative joint disorders - fevers - constipation.

Alumina
Camphora officinalis
Chamomilla
Coffea cruda
Nux vomica
Rhus toxicodendron

Note:
Alumina and Rhus toxicodendron are both complementary as well as antidotes.
