Clinical Picture:
The remedy of choice for the effects of trauma, over-exertion or injuries from a blunt instrument (contusion).
The person who needs Arnica feels bruised and sore.
Bruising injuries to all soft tissues, such as injuries from blows, falls or blunt objects.
Shock from any injury.
Concussion of the brain.
Eye injuries, "a black eye", retinal hemorrhage (Ledum palustre).
Bleeding caused by injuries.
Promotes healing of all injuries.
Relieves soreness and bruised feeling following child-birth, chronic illnesses, fractures and surgery.
Soreness of muscles from over-exertion.
Sprains and strains of joints, "tennis elbow".
Helpful even in very old injuries, especially of the soft tissues.
Denies he or she is ill or that there is anything wrong, although the patient is acutely ill.
Everything on which the patient lies feels extremely hard.
Fear of being touched, or of another person getting too close to the patient.

Modalities:
Worse:

Light touch.
Heat.
Rest.
Better:
With head low.
Motion.
Lying down.

Relations:
Aconitum napeilus, Rhus toxicodendron and Hypericum perforatum are complementary remedies.

Summary of Indications:
Injuries - post-operative - injury of perineum at child-birth.
