AESCULUS HIPPOCASTANUM

Clinical Picture:
For persons with hemorrhoidal tendencies and who suffer from gastric disorders.
Despondent, gloomy and very irritable. They lose their temper easily and regain control of themselves very slowly.
Stools followed by fullness of the rectum and intense pain at the anal orifice for several hours; feels like a bunch of small sticks in the rectum.
Severe dull backache in the Iumbo-sacral region, more or less constant and affecting the sacrum and hips as well.

Modalities:
Worse:

Motion. Walking. Stooping. From moving bowels.
Better:
Cool air.

Relations:
Similar to Aloe socotrina, Coliinsonia canadensis, Ignatia amara, Muriaticum acidum, Nux vomica and Sulphur in hemorrhoids. After Coliinsonia canadensis has improved the hemorrhoids, Aesculus hippocastanum often may cure the disorder permanently. Useful after Nux vomica and Sulphur have improved, but failed to fully cure the hemorrhoids.

Summary of Indications:
Hemorrhoids (with accompanying bad temper) - low backache.
(The ointment is useful as an external application in painful haemorrhoids.)
